Calcium formate has a wide range of applications, serving as a feed additive, plant
growth regulator, and desulfurization aid for high-sulfur flue gases. Calcium Salt can
also be used as an intermediate in the production of oxalic acid (ethanedioic acid).

chemical, petroleum, building materials, and leather manufacturing.
Properties of Calcium Formate
Calcium formate, also known as calcium formiate (English name: Calcium Formate,
abbreviated as CAF), is a white crystalline or powdery substance with slight hygroscopicity.
It is non-toxic, has a slightly bitter taste, and is insoluble in alcohol but soluble in water. Its
pH is neutral.
The chemical formula of calcium formate is Ca(HCOO)₂, with a molecular weight of 130.0
and a relative density (specific gravity) of 2.023 (at 20°C). It decomposes when heated to
around 400°C.
The solubility of calcium formate does not change significantly with temperature. At 0°C,
its solubility is 16.0 g per 100 g of water, while at 100°C, Calcium Salt dissolves 18.4 g per
100 g of water.

Currently, the global production of calcium formate is mainly concentrated in China,

China's annual domestic consumption of calcium formate ranges between 120–150 kt,
while the majority of the remaining output is exported to Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
