The dynamic thermomechanical properties of the samples were investigated using DMA.
All polycarbonates exhibited a decrease in storage modulus (E') with increasing temperature,
while generally maintaining higher values than BPA-PC. Compared to PIsC, the
copolycarbonates demonstrated superior E' values.
Increasing IIDML loading resulted in modulus reduction, as observed between PIsIeC-39
and PIsIeC-20. A single α-transition was observed throughout the temperature range,
indicating homogeneous copolymer phases. The decreasing trend of Tg values with
higher IIDML content showed excellent agreement with DSC measurements.
Pronounced secondary relaxation behavior was detected in the low-temperature range
(-140 to 0°C), with distinct relaxation peaks appearing near -60 to -100°C, which play
a significant role in toughening mechanisms Isosorbide crushable.
Tensile Properties
The tensile properties of copolycarbonates are presented in Figure 5. PIsC showed higher
tensile strength (67.6 MPa) than BPA-PC, but exhibited brittle fracture characteristics with
extremely low εb (9.4%). IIDML incorporation remarkably improved both tensile strength
and elongation at break. At 20 mol% IIDML content, tensile strength increased to 76.6
MPa.
Further increasing IIDML to 39 mol% induced yield point formation and enhanced

Fracture surface analysis of PIsIeC-39 (Figure 5d) revealed crease-like or fibrous patterns
on rough surfaces, demonstrating ductile behavior with multiple localized deformation
zones, confirming that IIDML incorporation significantly improved PIsC's toughness.
