Its principle is that PMDA undergoes a coupling reaction with the PET molecular chain through reactive extrusion, extending the length of the molecular chain, increasing the molecular weight, and thereby enhancing the melt viscosity and strength. Experiments have proven that adding 0.75 wt% PMDA can reduce the melt flow index of PET from 90 g/10 min to 1.2 g/10 min, meeting the stringent requirements for melt properties in deep drawing molding and reducing problems such as tensile fracture and wrinkling.
This modification method is cost-controllable and is not only suitable for optimizing virgin PET sheets, but also can increase the recycling of recycled PET, helping the development of enterprises.
